Abstract:Objective To explore the curative effect of Chinese medicine fumigation combined with lumbar traction therapy on lumbar disc herniation（LDH）with conservative treatment indications. Methods A total of 84 patients with LDH in Fuyang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from February 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method，they were divided into two groups，with 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with lumbar traction therapy，and the observation group received Chinese medicine fumigation combined with lumbar traction therapy. Both groups were treated for 15 days. The clinical efficacy and the indexes levels before and after treatment including lumbar function［Japanese Orthopedic Association Score（JOA）］，pain degree［Visual Analogue Scale（VAS）］，lumbar range of motion，inflammatory indicators［C - reactive protein（CRP），interleukin（IL）-6］were compared between groups. Results After 15 days of treatment，the clinical efficacy of observation group was higher than that of control group（95.24% vs 78.57%，χ2=5.126，P＜0.05）；compared with the control group，the JOA scores［（22.08±3.07）points vs（18.72±2.67）points，t=5.352，P<0.01］and various lumbar mobility in the observation group were higher（P< 0.05）；VAS scores［（2.62 ± 0.71）points vs（3.99 ± 1.19）points，t=6.407，P<0.01］，serum CRP level［（4.88±1.32）mg/L vs（7.23±1.84）mg/L，t=6.725，P<0.01］and IL -6levels［（7.69±1.52）pg/mL vs（9.82±1.88）pg/mL，t=5.710，P<0.01］in the observation group were lower than those in the control group. Conclusion Chinese medicine fumigation combined with lumbar traction on treating LDH patients can effectively reduce their pain，improve their lumbar range of motion and function.
