Abstract:Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of computed tomography(CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in oblique vaginal septum syndrome (OVVS), namely Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome (HWWS) with review of the literature in order to improve the understanding of OVVS. Methods The clinical imaging (CT and MRI) data of 5 HWWS patients confirmed by surgery treated in the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Tangshan from October 2018 to August 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Results There were 3 cases of double uterus and two cases of mediastinal uterus. All 5 patients suffered from absent of renal and empyema of vagina on the affected side. Three cases of the posterior septal compartment were presented on the right side, and 2 cases were presented on the left side. One case was complicated with endometriosis cyst on oblique septal side. One case was complicated with fallopian tube empyema on oblique septal side. CT and MRI clearly showed the abnormal morphology of uterus, cervix and vagina, vagina oblique septum, vaginal cavity, pelvic cavity and kidney condition in five patients. Conclusion CT and MR can provide important objective basis in clearly diagnosing HWWS.
