Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of Krachow suture combined with vertical intermittent fixation of steel wire on patellar function, fracture healing and complications in patients with comminuted fracture of inferior pole of patella. Methods Eighty patients with comminuted fracture of inferior pole of patella from May 2014 to May 2019 were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group(n=40, each).The vertical intermittent fixation of steel wire was performed in control group, and Krachow suture combined with vertical intermittent fixation of steel wire was conducted in study group.The patellar function, fracture healing and complications were observed and compared 3 months after operation between two groups. Results After treatment, the excellent and good rate (90.0% vs 65.0%, ), the range of motion(ROM) of knee joint (125.8°±5.3° vs 14.1°±4.8°) and Bostman knee joint score (27.3±1.2 vs 21.5±0.9) in study group were significantly higher than those in control group (all P<0.05).The fracture healing time ［(8.5±1.2)weeks vs (9.6±1.3) weeks］ and the incidence of postoperative complications (10.0% vs 32.5%)in study group were statistically lower than those in control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion Krachow suture combined with vertical intermittent fixation of steel wire can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and patella function and has obvious curative effect and low incidence of complications in patients with comminuted fracture of inferior pole of patella.
