Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect and safety of gabapentin or carbamazepine in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia,in order to provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. Methods PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chinese Journal Full-text Database,Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database,Wanfang database were searched by computer to collect the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of gabapentin (experimental group) compared with carbamazepine (control group) in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia at home and abroad.The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to January 2019.The literature was screened in strict accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria,and the risk bias evaluation tool of Cochrane collaborative network was used to evaluate the quality of the included literature,and the Rev man 5.3 statistical software was used for meta-analysis. Results A total of 1 220 patients were enrolled in 14 RCTs.According to the results of meta-analysis,compared with control group,the experimental group had a lower visual analogue score (VAS) ［SMD=-0.73,95%CI (-1.27,-0.19),P=0.008］,a higher total clinical effective rate ［OR=1.90,95%CI(1.42,2.55),P<0.01］,a lower incidence rate of adverse reaction ［OR=0.27,95%CI(0.20,0.36),P<0.01］ and a higher life satisfaction index (lsi-b) ［MD=4.29,95%CI(3.14,5.45),P<0.01］. ConclusionGabapentin is effective in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia,which has a better treatment effect and safety than carbamazepine.
