Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions of microneedle radiofrequency acne treatment combined with a collagen dressing in patients with moderate to severe acne. Methods A total of 110 patients with moderate to severe acne vulgaris who visited the Department of Dermatology and Venereology in Huaian Second Peoples Hospital from April 2020 to April 2022 were randomly divided into a combination group and a single group, with 55 patients in each group. The combined group received treatment with microneedle radiofrequency acne treatment device combined with collagen dressing, while the single group only received treatment with microneedle radiofrequency acne treatment device. The clinical outcomes and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between two groups of patients after treatment. Results Compared to the single group, the combination group showed a higher treatment effectiveness rate after 4 weeks (85.45% vs 69.09%, χ2=4.193, P=0.041). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of Global Acne Grading System (GAGS) scores and Acne Quality of Life (Acne-QoL) scores (P＞0.05); both groups exhibited a reduction in GAGS scores and a increase in Acne-QoL scores after 4 weeks and 12 weeks of treatment compared to before treatment, with statistical significance (P＜0.05). The overall incidence of adverse reactions during the treatment period did not differ significantly between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion Micro-needle radiofrequency acne treatment devices show significant effects in improving skin lesions in patients with moderate to severe acne, with a low incidence of adverse reactions. Consideration may be given to combining this treatment with collagen dressings.
