Abstract:Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) has significant effects on the nervous system, particularly in terms of long-term neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier disruption, and microglial activation. These changes share overlaps and similarities with the pathological features of Alzheimers disease (AD). This review summarizes recent domestic and international research on the pathophysiological processes through which COVID-19 affects the nervous system, and the mechanisms underlying AD. It further explores the potential common mechanisms between COVID-19 and AD, aiming to provide new insights into the long-term neurological impacts of COVID-19 and inform future prevention and treatment strategies.
