Abstract:ObjectiveTo compare the clinical efficacy and safety of sodium hyaluronate eyedrops combined with meibomian gland dredging and sodium hyaluronate eyedrops alone in the treatment of children with moderate dry eye.MethodsA total of 128 children with moderate dry eye and meibomian gland disfunction treated from January 2014 to December 2018 were selected and randomly divided into the combined group in which sodium hyaluronic ophthalmic solution combined with meibomian gland dredge was performed and the control group in which sodium hyaluronate eye drops alone was given(n=64,each).The clinical efficacy,adverse reactions,tear film break-up time (BUT),basic tear secretion test (SIT),ocular surface disease index (OSDI),meibomian gland score(MGS)and corneal fluorescein staining (CFS) were compared between two groups.ResultsThe total effective rate in combined group was significantly higher than that in control group (95.31% vs 84.38%,P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of OSDI decreased,and BUT and SIT increased in two groups（P<0.05）;compared with control group,OSDI decreased,and BUT and SIT increased statistically in combined group（P<0.01）.After treatment,the scores of meibomian gland and corneal fluorescein decreased in both groups and were significantly lower in combined group than those in control group（P<0.05,P<0.01）.There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between combination group and control group （3.13% vs 6.25%,P>0.05）.ConclusionIn the treatment of children with moderate dry eye,sodium hyaluronate eye drops combined with meibomian gland dredge has better clinical efficacy compared with sodium hyaluronate eye drops alone and can effectively reduce the clinical symptoms of children with less adverse reactions.
