Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical application prospect of polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) digital space maintainer for premature loss of deciduous teeth based on the clinical effect and the patient satisfaction. Methods From June 2019 to June 2020, 45 children with premature loss of mandibular unilateral non-free end primary molars were selected and divided into control group (received traditional space maintainer, n=20) and experimental group （received PEKK digital space maintainer, n=25). The clinical effective rate, incidence of adverse reactions and patients' satisfaction were evaluated and compared between two groups. Results Semi-annual follow-up evaluation showed that there was no significant difference in clinical effectiveness and incidence of adverse effect between two groups（P>0.05）. Comfort, stability, beauty and small gingival irritation were the main considerations for parents of children in experimental group. The satisfaction evaluation of children in the observation group and the control group were very satisfied in 17 cases and 4 cases, satisfied in 5 cases and 10 cases, dissatisfied in 3 cases and 6 cases, respectively, the patient satisfaction in experimental group was significantly better than that in control group (Z=10.286 P=0.006）. Conclusion PEKK digital space maintainer has the advantages of beauty, good biological performance, good clinical practice, less adverse reactions and high satisfaction in children.
